Mental Health and Wellness

Each community member will experience challenges to mental health and wellness. Challenges community members may experience include:

  • Work and life stresses,

  • Stigma and bullying,

  • Ageing,

  • The impact of drugs and alcohol, and

  • Intellectual disability.

Reduced mental health and wellness may impact members in a number of ways including:

  • Reduced involvement and effectiveness in workplace and community participation, and

  • Severe outcomes such as physical health issues and suicide.

Strategies to avoid or address reduced mental health and wellness include:

  • Recreational activities with a therapeutic benefit,

  • Promotion of mental health and wellness, and

  • Access to mental health practitioners.
